Our Story
Doc has a PhD in physics from Washington University in St. Louis. In fact, as an undergraduate, his research group hired him to test and characterize vacuum tubes (PMTs).
We use the best tools available to ensure that our vintage tubes have survived their trip through the decades to you. We test every tube on one of our two computer-controlled Amplitrex AT1000 digital tube testers. Each tube listed as New Old Stock (NOS) has been tested in Fixed Bias mode and found, according to original USA or European manufacturer's data sheets to be within tolerance for a factory new tube. The finest tubes will also be tested for noise and microphonics. Matching is available for an extra fee. For our premium tubes, you will also know, numerically, how well your tubes have matched each other and how balanced the sections are. Many other sellers hide their results behind shiny words like "platinum matched," but don't specify a value or even a parameter by which they have been matched.
